An article implying Peruvian Indians should be bombed with napalm (because of the conflict in Bagua) has been named by human rights organisation Survival International as the ‘most racist article’ published in the last year by the mainstream media.
Here you can download the press release and other documents of the international press conference of PEP (Plataforma Europa Perú) that took place on Friday 12 June in Brussels on the events in Bagua (North Peru).
During the escalation of the conflict between the Peruvian authorities and the indigenous people of the Amazonian rainforest, at least 30 people died and many were wounded. Two Belgian volunteers were the only international witnesses of the bloodbath (pictures at http://catapa.be/en/north-peru-killings).
Washington, D.C., June 8, 2009—The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) strongly condemns the acts of violence that took place on June 5 in Bagua, in northern Peru, which have caused a number of deaths.

Tell the Peruvian Government:
1. Immediately suspend violent repression of indigenous protests and the State of Emergency
2. Repeal the Free Trade Laws that allow oil, logging, and agricultural corporations easy entry into indigenous territories
3. Respect indigenous peoples' constitutionally guaranteed rights to self-determination, to their ancestral territories, and to prior consultation
